(As Seen On Shark Tank) TURBO TRUSSER For Chicken And Turkey
In this review video, Mr. Cast Iron demonstrates the Turbo Trusser (amzn.to/3wSlXdz), which was featured on Shark Tank. With this, you don't need to know how to truss a chicken or turkey. Once trussed, we placed our chicken into the Lodge cast iron casserole pan and inserted our ThermoPro Twin Spike thermometer. You can also add a skewer for a rotisserie. The tempspike temp probe helps to get the chicken to the desired temperature of 165 degrees. You don't want your meat undercooked, so these work best to achieve a safe temperature.

Can You Use Metal Utensils On Enameled Cast Iron?
Переглядів 839Місяць тому
In this video, Mr. Cast Iron answers a question about enameled cast iron. Can you use metal utensils on enameled cast iron? The short answer is no! Using a wooden spoon or spatula is best to protect your Dutch oven or any enameled cookware. You can use plastic, nylon, silicone, and rubber, but wood is the best, in my opinion. Never use a knife to cut anything in the Dutch oven, as this can scra...

I bought a cast iron skillet at a thrift store, it is in pretty good shape. I didn't know I'd have black come off on the paper towel. I burned off all grease, on top of the stove. It takes a long time, but it sure gets clean. Then you just have to season it. I also do that on top of the stove.

I am 77 have never thrown bacon grease out. Use it for everything. Never strain it use the particles for whatever I am cooking and I even have a grease can like yours that I’ve had forever. Bacon grease is superior to any of the oils sold in the stores and a lot healthier.

I know this is a 2 year old video but I want to add my 2 cents with another little tip. It's best to NOT add cold eggs (or cold anything) to the pan. Bring your eggs up to at least room temp before cooking. Either set them out a couple of hours before use or place them in a bowl of warm/hot water from your sink. In other words, you don't need to heat water up on your stove top. Hot water from your sink is plenty hot enough. You just want to knock the chill out of those eggs. I recommend allowing meat to come to room temp before adding cooking as well. 😊

Hello. What can I do to clean my cast iron grate tops that sit on my stove top? I've taught four ladies to cook and my husband fries everything. I occasionally put it in the dishwasher and that helps a bit but it in no way clears it off. It looks simply horrible.

An overly smooth cast iron cooking surface does not hold seasoning as well as the textured cooking surface. But over time, the textured surface of Lodge will wear down. If you want a smooth cooking surface but the cooking experience of cast iron, then I suggest using carbon steel pans. I love Lodge cast iron and they are the only brand I buy.

Leave it in the husk and after 2 min. cut the big end off. Squeeze it from the small end and the corn will just slide out leaving the silk behind.

Seasoning isn’t rocket science, it’s polymer science, and it’s not simple, because even the thickness of the coating and the temperature you polymerize at is crucial and can mess up the coating! By the way, you cannot season by cooking, the thin film layer will not form during cooking!

No, it won’t hurt you any more than a char-grilled hamburger would. Continue to clean your skillet really well every time, and be sure to lightly oil it. Over time the black residue should fade away.

Bacon grease can work well if you use your cast iron pan very regularly. If you don't, the grease coating the pan will go rancid. Even after baked on. I have 1 cast iron pan I use regularly and use bacon grease on for flavor and constant use. My other less used cast iron pans I season with a high temp oil because that has better long term storage qualities.
